Not only are we Aboriginally owned, but two-thirds of our management team also have indigenous heritage. We are also dedicated to training and indenturing Aboriginal apprentices and trades across all our disciplines and service offerings.
With Yamatji heritage Zak has been an unrelenting advocate for Aboriginal people. Prior to being elected to Parliament in 2017 and subsequently serving as the 35th leader of the Opposition, Zak was a principal policy adviser to the former WA Premier Colin Barnett, working on a range of key environment, planning and Aboriginal heritage projects. Later Zak joined BGC Australia, where he worked in strategic development for both the residential and hotel construction divisions, taking a senior role in the development of projects over $300 million in value.
Zak has always been driven by the idea of helping Aboriginal people in Western Australia and has been a hallmark of his commercial and Parliamentary experience. Together with co-founder Adam, Zak is committed to the idea of making sure that Kolbang is positioned to do all it can to help train and employ as many Aboriginal people as possible.
Samuel has over a decade of electrical trade experience. Starting in 2010, Samuel has worked across both the commercial and residential sectors on extensive and complex projects. With a Cert II in engineering, a Cert III in data and voice communications, Samuel moved to become a civil operator in the commercial railway sector. Samuel’s depth of experience is invaluable to Kolbang’s mission.
As a Nimanburr and Yawuru descendent, Samuel leads the commercial operations of Kolbang, leveraging this extensive experience to help recruit, train and employ as many Aboriginal people across the trade base of our company.
Simon joins Kolbang as our Construction Manager with over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Simon has delivered key projects across the aged care, hotel, apartment, commercial, industrial, civil, and residential sectors while earning a reputation for driving performance and efficiency.
A proven leader in the field, Simon is a key part of Kolbang’s vision to help make our community a better place and provide a meaningful opportunity for the Aboriginal community in Western Australia. With a background in carpentry, Simon has earned a diploma in construction, a Bachelor of Applied Science, Construction Management and Economics and has been a registered builder since 2002.
Adam is the founder of ADCO Group, with over 20 years of experience in the electrical field. Starting his company in 2003, he has gone from working in the residential sector to building a highly successful electrical, mechanical, fire and integrated solution business. ADCO is now one of the largest employers of apprentices in WA. He is excited about working with Kolbang with a specific focus on Aboriginal participation and engagement.
